In the coming days, the Fundy Ocean Research Centre for Energy (FORCE) will deploy an acoustic receiver station – one of a 24-station array it maintains with Ocean Tracking Network to listen for tagged fish moving through Minas Passage.
As part of the same operation, FORCE will recover a small acoustic doppler current profiler (ADCP) platform from the seafloor in the FORCE test area; the platform has been measuring currents and waves in the test area to better understand environmental conditions since it was deployed in June.
You may see brief vessel activity during daylight hours, including placing and retrieving equipment. Work will take place only when weather and sea conditions are suitable. Operations will be conducted from the Nova Endeavour, operated by Huntley’s Diving and Marine.
