Police are investigating a fatal head-on collision near Yarmouth, N.S.
Police said officers responded to the two-vehicle collision Friday around 1:45 p.m. in South Ohio. It happened on Hardscratch Road near Highway 340.
According to RCMP, the initial investigation shows the driver of a GMC Sierra was travelling north when they collided with a Ford Ranger travelling south. The collision caused the driver of the Ford to crash into the ditch.
The Ford Ranger driver, an 82-year-old man from Arcadia, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the GMC Sierra, a 43-year-old man from Yarmouth, was arrested for impaired driving causing death after officers “observed signs of impairment.” He was taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
Police collected a blood sample as part of the investigation.
