Crews from Chapman Bros. Construction have begun the Municipality of Cumberland’s 2026 capital paving program for municipal streets in Parrsboro and Springhill.
Workers were busy putting new asphalt on McGree Street between Athol Road and Lagoon Road on Wednesday, June 17, 2026. Work is also beginning in Parrsboro.
The municipality is responsible for about 32.4 km of roads (including 3.15 km gravel) in Parrsboro, and 36.3 km of roads (including 1.3 km gravel) in Springhill.
The Springhill projects are being funded by the Springhill Area Rate, the Canada Community Building Fund (former Gas Tax), Springhill Debt and provincial Trunks and Routes Program while the Parrsboro projects are being funded through the former Gas Tax.
