Breaking: Crews Respond to Brush Fire in Little Forks (June 18, 2026)
Emergency crews responded to a 2-alarm brush fire in the community of Little Forks, Cumberland County, late this afternoon.
Current Status:
Condition: As of approximately 4:35 PM, firefighters have extinguished the main fire. Crews remain on scene mopping up hot spots.
Size: The fire burned an estimated 10 acres of land.
Evacuations: No evacuations were required.
Location & Road Closures:
The fire was located on Highway 2 (Springhill Road) near Sandstrom Road.
Springhill Road was temporarily closed between Fern Hill Road and Burgarsky Road but has since reopened to traffic.
Motorists were advised to avoid the area while crews worked.
Response:
Multiple departments responded to the scene, including the Springhill Fire Department, which established command. Mutual aid was requested from neighboring departments such as Southampton Fire, River Hebert Fire, and the Department of Natural Resources (DNR).
